Kara Jane Aina (pronounced Eye-Na) was born and raised in New Brunswick, Canada. She attended art school at Mount Allison University in Canada then transferred to Brigham Young University in Utah where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She studied various mediums from figure drawing and painting to ceramics and bookbinding but decided to major in Intaglio and Lithography where she thoroughly enjoyed the process and precision that it required.
Kara Jane also received an Art Education K-12 teaching certification from Utah State University. She currently teaches over 550 students grades 1-8. Although she loves teaching, pursuing her own creative instincts is her passion. She works primarily in watercolor, ink and acrylic paint, occasionally incorporating vintage ephemera and collage. Her work is inspired by connections and interactions she has with family, friends and nature.
Kara Jane currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah with her husband and 4 sons. She has been very fortunate to have had the unique opportunity to teach all 4 of her sons' art in elementary and middle school and share with them her life long passion.
When Kara Jane is not teaching or creating art she enjoys running, hiking, traveling, movies, date nights, audiobooks, podcasts, catching up with her family in Canada and road trips with her family.
